Sri Tallapaka Annamarcharya Jayanthi Date in 2015. TTD organizes Sri Annamayya Jayanti Celebrations in Tallapaka Village

Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya is the mystic saint composer of the 15th century. He is the earliest known musician of South India to compose songs known as "sankeertanas" in praise of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, the main deity of the Tirumala Temple. He is widely regarded as the " Telugu Pada Kavita Pitaamaha" (Grand Old Man of Poetry). 

Sri Annamayya 607th Jayanthi will be celebrated on May 5, 2015(Tuesday) as per Hindu Calendar.

About Sri Tallapaka Annamayya(in brief):

Sri Tallapaka Annamacharyulu was born on Vaisaka Sudda Pournami 1408 in the year Sarwadari(Telugu New Year, May 9, 1408) in Tallapaka Village, Kadapa District, Andhrapradesh, India. He lived for 95 years until Phalguna Bahula Dwadasi(12th day after FULL MOON DAY) in 1503. His wife Thimmakka who had written SUBHADRA KALYANAM. They have only son Pedda Tirumalacharya and their grandson was Tallapaka Chinnaya and both are poets and composers.

Sri Annamacharya is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Venkateswara's Nandaka (or) Sword.

The unstinting devotion of Tallapaka Annamaiah for the Lord Venkateswara Swamy with a pristine heart and his efforts to immortalize his Bhakti through the composition of 32,000 songs in vernacular Telugu has made him Padakavitha Pitamaha(పదకవిత పితామహా). Out of 32,000 sankirtanas, only 14,000 are available and now these are engraved on copper plates.

The Tallapaka family popularized "Sri Vaishnava Faith" during 15th and 16th centuries with their poems, songs and music. 

In every year, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD), Tirumala organizes Sri Annamacharyula Jayanthi celebrations in Tirumala Temple,  Tirupati Town and in Tallapaka(Sri Annamayya Birth Place), Kadapa District, Andhrapradesh.
