Tirupati Devasthanams TTD performs Annual Pushpa Yagam to Lord Sri
Venkateswara Swamy in the holy hill shrine Tirumala in the month of
Karthika (October/November). This is an annual festival which will be celebrated on the day of Sravanam Star(Birth Star of Lord Balaji) in the month of Karthika(October/November).
This year 2014, Srivari Pushpa Yagam will be celebrated on October 31, 2014(Friday).
History of Srivari Pushpa Yagam, Tirumala:
The Pushpa Yagam Festival originally was started in the Fifteen Century and was reviewed in 1980's by the TTD.
Significance & Importance of Pushpa Yagam Festival:
On this occasion Ankurarpanam
will be performed one day prior to Pushpa Yagam Festival. On this
Festival day after daily Pujas offered to the Main deity, Sri Malayappa
Swamy along with his consorts will be brought to the Kalyanamandapam
and offered Tirumanjanam.
After Tirumanjanam, worship is offered to the Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy with different kinds of Flowers in large number. Later Pushparchana and Harati
will be offered to the Lord. In the evening procession of Sri Malayappa
Swamy along with his consorts takes place in four mada streets in
tirumala shrine.
