Sabarimala is the abode of Lord Sri Ayyappa Swamy. The temple is situated on a hilltop (about 3000feet above sea level) named SABARIMALA in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala State. It is believed that the deity of the temple was consecrated by Lord Parasurama at the foot of the Sabari Hills for which reference has been made even in Hindu Epic RAMAYANAM.

The uniqueness of Sri Ayyappa Swamy temple is that the temple is opened for worship only during the specified days in every month and during the days of Mandala Pooja (December/January), Makaravilakku (Makara Sankranthi in the month of January).
Makaravilakku Festival is the most important festival being celebrated in this sacred temple. Lakhs of devotees will have a darshan of Lord Sri Ayyappa Swamy during the mandala pooja.
