Rameshwaram is the abode of Sri Ramanatha Swamy(Lord Shiva). The temple town is located in Ramanathapuram district in the state of Tamilnadu, India. It is the first among 12 Jyothirlingas and one of the four Dhams situated in four directions in India. The presiding deity of the temple is Sri Ramanatha Swami and the secondary deity of the temple is Viswanathar(also called as Viswalingam-Lord Shiva). The temple is one of the holiest place of Hindu pilgrimage for devotees of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Rameshwaram is called as the "Varanasi of the South".
