Thiruvananthapuram  is the abode of Shri Padmanabha Swamy(Lord Sri Maha Vishnu). Shri Padmanabha Swamy Temple is situated in Thiruvananthapuram city, the state capital of Kerala, India. The main deity of the temple is in recline pose on the mighty Five hooded Serpent Anantha. The origin of this ancient temple is lost in antiquity. It is believed that the temple was 5000 years old. 

Thiruvananthapuram takes its name from the presiding deity of Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple who is also known as "Anantha"(one who reclines on the Serpant Anantha). The word "Thiruvananthapuram" literary means "The land of Sree Anantha Padmanabha Swamy"

Only Hindus are permitted inside the temple. The important festivals which are being celebrated in a grand manner in this temple are "THIRUVONAM" and "ALPASI ULSAVAM(Bi-Annual Festival)".
