Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam TTD performed Kareeri Isthi Yagam(also known as Varuna Yagam) from June 22,2012 to June 26,2012 in Tirumala. TTD has made elaborate arrangements to conduct Kareeri Isthi Yagam to appease Rain God(Lord Varun) for good rains for the prosperity of the state and the country.

TTD has been performing this yagam since 2005 for blessings and for Good Rains from Lord Varun.This Yagam is a Five-Day ritual will take place at Gobargham Teertham near Paruveta Madapam in the abode of Lord Venkateswara,Tirumala and this Yagam will be performed from 8:00am to 12:00pm during these five days.
Significance of Kareeri Isthi Yagam
The significance of the Kareeri Isthi Yagam is that since Vedic age,the Sages and Ritwiks used to perform this ritual with utmost devotion for blessing from Lord Varun(Rain God). The Uniqueness of this ritual is that the every item used in this Yagam is in Krishna Varna(Black Colour) including the dresses Ritwiks performing the Yagam. In this ritual the rice cooked in Bamboo,the horse and ram and every material will be black in colour as the Homa(Homam in Telugu) invokes black clouds to shower Good Rains.The Yagam will be perform with Vedic Experts.
